On August 20th, 2016 Durant had the privilege of being with the Denver City church of Christ as they hosted the 54th annual Teenage Christian Conference! This marked our third time singing for this conference and it is always one of our favorite events! What a joy it was to be with over 450 teens from all over west Texas and New Mexico as they worshiped God and learned more about Him. This year the theme was “All 2 Us” and we enjoyed proclaiming with the kids that Jesus is all to us! Durant served as a praise team for Anthony Lancaster as he along with William Gooch and Luke Barnett led the teens in worship. In between worship sets we were treated to some wonderful teaching from folks like Fred Hall, Ray Young and Geoff Dunn.
At the conclusion of the day, Durant performed a concert singing several old favorites as well as new songs from our latest album, Upside Down. One of the songs from that album, the Belize Medley, was especially fun for us to perform since many in the audience also got to be with us on a mission trip in Belize just a few months earlier. It was so special to see the kids singing along and doing the motions as the song calls for.
Those of us in Durant are so thankful for the leadership in the Denver City church, especially Jerry Woosley and Skip Rogers who are some of our biggest supporters and encouragers. We love to see how this church pours into the community and into the kids around them to further the kingdom of God. A trip to Denver City is never complete without visiting the “Hi Neighbor” diner for breakfast, and of course we had to sing and cut up while we were there! Take a look at this silly video we made to remind the kids at the conference to “keep their business off of Facebook”! We always love getting to visit with dear friends and making new ones each time we get to sing in Denver City!
